In addition to the above, each age category needs to learn 10 verses: 

2nd - 3rd grade: 

  1. Ephesians 6:24 – Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.

  2. Matthew 21:22 – If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

  3. 2 Corinthians 6:18 – “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the Lord Almighty.

  4. 1 John 3:3 – All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

  5. Isaiah 55:8 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

  6. Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”

  7. Colossians 3:23 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

  8. Luke 21:19 – Stand firm, and you will win life.

  9. Psalm 3:5 – I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

  10. Proverbs 12:27 – The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

 

4th - 5th grade: 

  1. Isaiah 46:11 – From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.

  2. Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  3. Ephesians 1:7 – In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

  4. Exodus 20:2-3 – I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.

  5. 2 Samuel 22:33 – It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.

  6. Matthew 7:12 – So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

  7. 1 Timothy 2:7 – And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.

  8. 2 Corinthians 4:18 – So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

  9. Psalm 119:103 – How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

  10. Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.


 

6th - 7th grade: 

  1. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 – May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

  2. Hebrews 13:2 – Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

  3. James 4:6 – But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

  4. 1 Peter 1:20-21 – He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

  5. 1 Samuel 2:7 – The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.

  6. Zechariah 14:9 – The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.

  7. John 1:18 – No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

  8. Deuteronomy 4:24 – For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

  9. Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

  10. Proverbs 13:20 – Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

8th - 9th grade: 

  1. Isaiah 54:10 – Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

  2. Romans 6:14 – For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

  3. Philippians 4:9 – Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

  4. Exodus 15:13 – In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.

  5. Isaiah 53:5 – But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

  6. 1 Samuel 12:24 – But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

  7. Hebrews 9:22 – In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

  8. Jeremiah 23:24 – Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord.

  9. Psalm 37:6 – He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

  10. Proverbs 17:5 – Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.

10th - 11th grade: 

  1. Colossians 2:6-7 – So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

  2. Isaiah 43:2 – When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

  3. Genesis 28:15 – I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

  4. James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

  5. Ecclesiastes 7:1 – A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth.

  6. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 – May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  7. 1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

  8. Hebrews 13:7 – Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

  9. Psalm 45:7 – You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

  10. Proverbs 28:21 – To show partiality is not good— yet a person will do wrong for a piece of bread.


 

12th grade - 44 years old: 

  1. 2 Timothy 1:7 – For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

  2. Deuteronomy 33:12 – About Benjamin he said: “Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.”

  3. 1 Peter 1:3 – Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

  4. Ecclesiastes 12:14 – For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

  5. Amos 4:13 – He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth— the Lord God Almighty is his name.

  6. Romans 6:4 – We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

  7. Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

  8. Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

  9. Psalm 61:2 – From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

  10. Proverbs 15:22 – Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

Adults 45+ : 

  1. Isaiah 54:17 – “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.

  2. 1 Thessalonians 4:1 – As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.

  3. Colossians 1:26–27 – The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

  4. Romans 3:25–26 – God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

  5. Galatians 2:16 – Know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

  6. 1 Timothy 6:10 – For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

  7. Hebrews 12:2 – Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

  8. Revelation 5:12 – In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

  9. Psalm 19:9–10 – The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.

  10. Proverbs 13:24 – Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.
